In the perilous heart of Scion London, a dangerous and valuable poltergeist is on the loose – and it must be caught before chaos erupts on the streets of the capital. Here, the clairvoyant underworld plays by its own rules, and rival gangs will stop at nothing to win such a magnificent prize.
Sixteen-year-old Paige Mahoney is working for Jaxon Hall, the most notorious mime-lord in the city. He thinks she is hiding a powerful gift, but it refuses to surface. Maybe this is the opportunity she needs to secure her position in his gang, the Seven Seals…
* I received this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion or review in any way *
This novella was at the back of the copy of The Bone Season that I received from the publisher, so I thought that I would read it first, as it is the prequel to the entire series.
In The Pale Dreamer we are introduced to Paige Mahoney at the age of sixteen, when she begins to work for Jaxon Hall in the Seven Seals – a gang within the clairvoyant underworld. She is embarking on her first ‘mission’ to catch a poltergeist who is causing a little bit of trouble.
This book was short and to the point. It gave me an insight to the world of clairvoyants and the main characters that I would be following when I read the other books in the series. I have the feeling that Paige is going to be a badass in the rest of the books, as she seems to be pretty tough, but her abilities are only just beginning to surface. I am excited to see what happens in the rest of the series!
Who else has read this book, or the series? What did you think? I would love to hear your thoughts!
Thanks for coming by to read my review of The Pale Dreamer, and until next time, happy reading!
